Sense proudly presents the Tapestry of Touch national tour. There are over 250, 000 children and adults who are deafblind in the UK. In 2013 Sense, the national charity for people who are deafblind, launched The Great Sense Pompom Challenge. People from all of the UK took part in the challenge and made over 6, 000 pompoms. These tactile, vibrant and fun individual offerings have been woven into a giant piece of sensory art – The Tapestry of Touch. Thousands of artists with multi-sensory impairments and without contributed to the tapestry. This is their artwork.
Most art exhibitions are hands-off. We say, let’s get hands-on. So please come on down and take part in our fun for all exciting exhibitions. The Tapestry of Touch will be at the Peepul Enterprise from 6th May 2014 until 17th May 2014.
Jim Davis and Jo Hayward from BBC Radio Leicester and celebrity Rosemary Conley came along to help us celebrate the arrival to The Tapestry of Touch at The Peepul Enterprise.
We also had a wonderful performance from Leicester LookALady Ukuleles in partnership with Health in your Hands, Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) and Brightsparks. Little Peepul Day Nurssery aslo came to join in the fun and sing us a few nursery rhymes.

“I have loved this exhibition. The sensory Tapestry is amazing and the welcome i received was delightful. Group initiatives are so important for all of us but particularly for those with sensory issues. Well done!
I thought the Ukulele Ladies were fabulous too! And the Little Peepul’s Nursery! Loved it all!”
